Jacaranda Trees

This post is really late on talking about the Jacaranda trees, but I just started this blog, so cut me some slack.  🙂

IMG_3128The Jacaranda trees bloom in the spring, which is October and November.  They bloom beautiful purple flowers that smell amazing and they are EVERYWHERE here!  Everywhere!  If you look out of a high floor of tall building or drive down a heavily treed street, you will see and smell them.  They only bloom for about 6 weeks and then they lose all their flowers.  IMG_3130I didn’t get many pictures this year because they kind of caught me off guard, but next spring I will for sure!  Also, Pretoria is known as the “Jacaranda City” because they are filled with them!  You can go on walks in some parks there and around town and be completed shaded by these trees!  (Although, be aware of where you are and what you are doing in Pretoria – crime there is quite bad…maybe ask a local before you go jetting off to Pretoria to walk or drive around).

The pictures I took really are not that good, so I promise to get better ones next spring!
